| Muslims worship False God ; Muhammad
; the Black stone Allah
is simply the arabic word for God. Allah for Muslims is the greatest and most inclusive of
the Names of God, it is an arabic word of rich meaning, denoting the one and only God and
ascribing no partners to Him. It is exactly the same word which the Jews, in Hebrew, use
for God (eloh), the word which Jesus Christ used in Aramaic when he prayed to God. God has
an identical name in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; Allah is the same God worshiped by
Muslims, Christians and Jews. Muslims believe that Allah's sovereignty is to be
acknowledged in worship and in the pledge to obey His teaching and commandments, conveyed
through His messengers and prophets who were sent at various times and in many places
throughout history.
Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Mecca in the
year 570. Since his father died before his birth, and his mother shortly
afterwards, he was raised by his uncle from the respected tribe of Quraysh. As he grew up,
he became known for his truthfulness, generosity and sincerity, so that he was sought
after for his ability to arbitrate in disputes. The historians describe him as calm
and meditative. Muhammad (pbuh) was of a deeply religious nature, and had long
detested the decadence of his society.
It became his habit to meditate from time to time in the
Cave of Hira near Mecca. At the age of 40, while engaged in a meditative retreat, Muhammad
(pbuh) received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel. This
revelation, which continued for 23 years is known as the Quran. As soon as he began to
recite the words he heard from Gabriel, and to preach the truth which God had revealed to
him, he and his small group of followers suffered bitter persecution, which grew so fierce
that in the year 622 God gave them the command to emigrate.
This event, the Hijra 'migration', in which they left Mecca
for the city of Medina, marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar. After several
years, the Prophet and his followers were able to return to Mecca, where they forgave
their enemies and established Islam definitively. Before the Prophet saw dies at the age
of 63, the greater part of Arabia was Muslim, and within a century of his death Islam had
spread to Spain in the West and as far East as China. He died with less than 5
possessions to his name.
While Muhammad(pbuh) was chosen to deliver the message, he
is not considered the "founder" of Islam, since Muslims consider Islam to
be the same divine guidance sent to all peoples before. Muslims believe all the
prophets from Adam, Noah, Moses, Jesus etc. were all sent with divine guidance for their
peoples. Every prophet was sent to his own people, but Muhammad (pbuh) was sent to
all of mankind. Muhammad is the last and final messenger sent to deliver the message
of Islam. Muslims revere and honor him (pbuh) for all he went through and his
dedication, but they do not worship him. "O Prophet, verily We have sent you as a
witness and a bearer of glad tidings and a warner and as one who invites unto God by His
leave and as an illuminating lamp." (33:45-6)
About the Black Stone, Some people, cause
of ignorance, misunderstanding, or to justify their idolatrous practices, claim that
Muslims "worship" the Black Stone at the Kaaba in Makkah.
The Black Stone - Hajar al- Aswad - is NOT mentioned in the
Quran. The Black Stone is located about five feet from the ground on the East corner of
the Kaaba (this corner is known as "al-rukn al-Aswad").
While there are traditions about kissing or touching the
Stone, its real significance is as marker of the point at which one starts the Tawaaf
(circumambulation of the Kaaba as part of hajj or omra.) Even the traditions which
talk about kissing or touching the stone are VERY CLEAR that the Stone is JUST A STONE!
BUKHARI:
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 667:
Narrated 'Abis bin Rabia: Umar came
near the Black Stone and kissed it and said "NO DOUBT, I KNOW THAT YOU ARE A STONE
AND CAN NEITHER BENEFIT ANYONE NOR HARM ANYONE. Had I not seen Allah's Apostle kissing you
I would not have kissed you."
Volume 2, Book 26, Number 675:
Narrated Zaid bin Aslam from his father who said: "Umar bin Al-Khattab addressed the Corner (Black Stone) saying, 'BY
ALLAH! I KNOW THAT YOU ARE A STONE AND CAN NEITHER BENEFIT NOR HARM. Had I not seen the
Prophet touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you.' Then he
kissed it and said, 'There is no reason for us to do Ramal (in Tawaf) except that we
wanted to show off before the pagans, and now Allah has destroyed them.' 'Umar added,
'(Nevertheless), the Prophet did that and we do not want to leave it (i.e. Ramal).'"
MUSLIM:
Book 007, Number 2914:
Abdullah b. Sarjis reported: I saw
the bald one, i. e. 'Umar b. Khattib (Allah be pleased with him). kissing the Stone and
saying: BY ALLAH. I AM KISSING WITH FULL CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE FACT THAT YOU ARE A STONE
AND THAT YOU CAN NEITHER DO ANY HARM NOR GOOD; and if I had not seen Allah's Messenger
(may peace be upon him) kissing you. I would not have kissed you. The rest of the hadith
is the same.
The Stone is not be worshipped or regarded as anything but
a marker.
At hajj time you are actually unlikely to see the Black
Stone: Masjid Al-Haram is just two crowded. There is a line on the floor of the
Masjid to tell you where the line of the Black Stone is. Many hajis must perform
Tawaaf NOT on the Kaaba floor but on the SECOND OR THIRD STORIES of the Masjid Al-Haram!
On Levels #2 and #3 there are both marks on the floor and
neon lights to show you where to start and stop tawaaf.
The scholars agree that waving in the direction of the
Black Stone is sufficient recognition of its location as the start and stop of Tawaaf.
In actuality, waving in direction of the Black Stone is the
best you will probably do at hajj time.
The Black Stone has had an interesting history during the
Islamic period. In 930 AD a ruler of Bahrain - who belonged to a branch of Ismailism known
as the Karmatians - sacked Makkah and carried the Black Stone away for some 70 years until
it was ransomed.
In the process, the Black Stone was cracked. It is now held
together by a silver band. The fact that Islam was able to function without the Black
Stone for 70 years is one of the best illustrations that it is but a marker for Tawaaf -
and NOT an object of worship.
If Islam is so against any form of idol worship,
why do they bow to the kaaba? Why do they call it God's House? Do they believe He lives
there?
Islam does not allow bowing down to idols in worship. One
of the forms of worshiping Allah Almighty in Islam is to bow down to Him. Since
Allah Almighty ordered Abraham the father of Ishmael and Isaac peace be upon them to build
the Kaaba (the cubic black building in the city of Mecca, in Saudi Arabia today), people
called it the house of GOD Almighty, and it became the direction for us to bow down to
Allah Almighty in worship. So in other words, we Muslims
worship Allah Almighty in the direction of the location of the Kaaba (The House of Allah
Almighty in Islam), but not through the image of the Kaaba.
When Muslims bow down to Allah Almighty in worship at their
homes, they do not bow down to the sofa, or to the pair of shoes, or to the table, or to
the wall, or to the door, or to any object that is in front of them in their homes. No,
they bow down to Allah Almighty only. The Kaaba is the same thing. We do not bow down to
it in worship in any shape or form! We bow down to Allah Almighty in its direction.
Otherwise, if everyone were to pick their own directions
and their own methods in bowing down to Allah Almighty, then we would end up having
Muslims bowing down to idols such as stones, and gods made from wood in their worships.
We do not believe that Allah Almighty lives
there. Allah Almighty is unlimited and is every where; Wherever you turn, there is the
face of God. (The Noble Quran, 2:109). Even in the Bible, Jesus peace be upon him bowed
down to Allah Almighty the Islamic way; "Going a little farther, he [Jesus] fell with
his face to the ground and prayed, 'My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken
from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.' (From the NIV Bible, Matthew
26:39)" Is there a single
Christian out there that bows down to GOD Almighty in worship?
All Muslims are Arabs
Islam is the fastest growing religion in the World and
North America. Muslims are a vast range of races, nationalities, and cultures from around
the globe--from the Phillipines to Nigeria--they are united by their common Islamic faith.
Only about 18% live in the Arab world and the largest Muslim community is in Indonesia.
Most Muslims live east of Pakistan. 30% of Muslims live in the Indian subcontinent, 20% in
Sub-Saharan Africa, 17% in Southeast Asia, 18% in the Arab world, and 10% in the Soviet
Union and China. Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan make up 10% of the non-Arab Middle
East. Although there are Muslim minorities in almost every area, including Latin America
and Australia, they are most numerous in Russia and its newly independent states, India
and central Africa. There are about 8 million Muslims in the United States.
Islam is fatalistic
Most Muslims find it rather odd that their religion, which
strikes a beautiful balance between faith and action, could be accused of being "fatalistic".
Perhaps this misconception came about because Muslims are taught to say "Praise be
to God!" whenever anything good or bad happens. This is because Muslims know that
everything comes from Almighty God, who is the All-Knowing Sustainer of the Universe, and
that since a Muslim should rely completely on God, whatever happened must have been for
the better. However, this does not mean that Muslims are not taught to take action in life
--- just the opposite is true. Islam requires not only faith, but action --- such as
regular prayer, fasting and charity. To be more precise, in Islam actions are part of
one's faith. Islam total rejects the extreme beliefs of some religions that teach that you
shouldn't go to a doctor when sick, but only pray for God to heal you. Islam's outlook is
very positive, since it teaches that human beings can take positive action in this life.
This was certainly what was taught by Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, to his
followers --- since they obviously took the action of spreading Islam from Spain to
Morocco in a very short period of time. Even though Islam teaches that God knows what
human beings will do before they do it, human beings still have free will. Certainly God,
who is All-Knowing and All-Wise, knows what is going to happen to everyone before it
happens -- to deny this would be a denial of God Himself. However, if human-beings did not
have free will, it would be ridiculous and un-just for God to demand that they do certain
things and believe certain things. Far from being "fatalistic", Islam
teaches that a human-being's main purpose in life is to be God-conscious. Due to this,
Muslims worry less about material matters and view their earthly life in a proper
perspective. This is due to the fact that Islam clearly teaches that if people worship and
depend on Almighty God alone, then they have nothing to worry about - since God wants what
is best for them. True freedom, from the Islamic perspective, does not mean aimlessly
following all of your human desires for food, drink, wealth and sex. On the contrary,
freedom means being able to control one's base desires and fulfilling them in a proper and
legal way. This brings one's desires in tune with what God wants for us --- only then is a
person truly free!
Muslims are a barbaric, backwards
people
Among the reasons for the rapid and peaceful spread of
Islam was the simplicity of its doctrine - Islam calls for faith in only one God worthy of
worship. It also repeatedly instructs man to use his powers of intelligence and
observation. Within a few years, great civilizations and universities were flourishing,
for according to the Prophet (pbuh), "seeking knowledge is an obligation for every
Muslim man and woman". The synthesis of Eastern and Western ideas and of new thought
with old, brought about great advances in medicine, mathematics, physics, astronomy,
geography, architecture, art, literature, and history. Many crucial systems such as
algebra, the Arabic numerals, and also the concept of the zero (vital to the advancement
of mathematics), were transmitted to medieval Europe from Islam. Sophisticated instruments
which were to make possible the European voyages of discovery were developed, including
the astrolabe, the quadrant and good navigational maps.
The Nation of Islam is a Muslim group
Islam and the so called "Nation of Islam'" are
two different religions. Muslims consider this group to be just one of many cults using
the name of Islam for their own gain. The only thing common between them is the jargon,
the language used by both. "The Nation of Islam" is a misnomer; this religion
should be called Farrakhanism, after the name of its propogator, Louis Farrakhan. Islam
and Farakhanism differ in many fundamental ways. For example, Farakhan followers believe
in racism and that the 'black man' was the original man and therefore superior, while in
Islam there is no racism and everyone is considered equal in the sight of God, the only
difference being in one's piety. There are many other theological examples that show the
'Nation's teachings have little to do with true Islam. There are many groups in America
who claim to represent Islam and call their adherents Muslims. Any serious student of
Islam has a duty to investigate and find the true Islam. The only two authentic sources
which bind every Muslim are 1) the Quran and 2) authentic or sound Hadith. Any teachings
under the label of "Islam" which contradict or at variance with the direct
understanding of fundamental beliefs and practices of Islam form the Quran and authentic
Hadith should be rejected and such a religion should be considered a Pseudo-Islamic Cult.
In America there are many pseudo-Islamic cults, Farrakhanism being one of them. An
honest attitude on the part of such cults should be not to call themselves Muslims
and their religion Islam. such an example of honesty is Bahaism which is an off-shoot of
Islam but Bahais do not call themselves Muslims nor their religion, Islam. In fact Bahaism
is not Islam just as Farrakhanism is not Islam. |
